A disturbing and dehumanising protest took place outside the United Nations headquarters in New York, where pro-Palestinian activists played football with a hyper-realistic replica of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s severed head, reports JFEED.COM
The act was orchestrated by the extremist collective INDECLINE, ahead of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. The model of Netanyahu’s head was created by Spanish artist Eugenio Merino, known for producing provocative and often controversial political art.
The grotesque display has been widely condemned as violent political theatre that not only crosses the line of civil discourse but also plays into antisemitic tropes by dehumanising Jewish leadership. No UN body has yet publicly responded to the stunt.
In a separate development, 1,200 filmmakers and television professionals, including prominent figures such as Olivia Colman, Yorgos Lanthimos, Josh O’Connor, and Ayo Edebiri, have signed a pledge to boycott all cooperation with Israeli cultural and state institutions.
The signatories accuse these institutions of being “complicit in genocide and apartheid” against Palestinians. The declaration forms part of a wider cultural movement to isolate Israel internationally, echoing elements of the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) campaign.
