The Paris offices of Israeli national airline El Al were vandalised overnight with red paint and pro-Palestinian graffiti, in what officials have described as a severe antisemitic incident, reports The Times of Israel.
Images shared online show the building’s doors covered in red paint, with slogans such as „Free Palestine” in multiple languages and „El Al genocide airline” scrawled across the entrance.
El Al confirmed that the vandalism took place while the offices were empty and no staff were harmed. „El Al proudly flies the Israeli flag on the tails of its planes, and condemns any type of violence, particularly those with an antisemitic background,” the airline said in a statement, adding it was working with local authorities.
Israel’s Transportation Minister, Miri Regev, called the incident a „barbaric and violent act,” and blamed it on France’s recent political shift, including President Emmanuel Macron’s announcement to recognise a Palestinian state next month. „French citizens, wake up. Today it’s El Al, tomorrow it’s Air France,” she warned.
The Israeli embassy in France also condemned the attack, attributing it to a „climate of violent and unrestrained incitement by certain French elected officials.”
The incident comes amid a wave of travel-related harassment and discrimination against Israelis, with tensions fuelled by the ongoing Gaza conflict. Many observers have warned that such acts, while politically framed, are increasingly taking on antisemitic overtones.
