Five pro-Palestinian activists were arrested in London on Wednesday after attempting to disrupt the filming of The Runner, a new thriller starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot. The arrests, made by officers in Westminster, were for obstructing access to a place of work, reports Jewish News Syndicate
Protesters, some masked and wearing keffiyehs, brandished megaphones, banged pots, and held signs that read “Trash Gadot not welcome in London” and “Stop starving Gaza.” According to police, the operation aimed to identify individuals linked to offences at previous protests and to “deal with any new offences.”
Gadot, 40, is best known for her roles in Wonder Woman and Fast & Furious. A mother of four and former member of the Israel Defence Forces, she has been one of Hollywood’s most vocal supporters of Israel since the 7 October Hamas-led massacre in southern Israel that triggered the current war in Gaza.
While filming was targeted in the UK, Gadot’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in California was simultaneously vandalised with antisemitic graffiti. Messages scrawled across the star labelled her a “baby killer” and altered her surname to “Greenstein” — her parents’ original family name before it was Hebraicised. The graffiti was later removed by members of the Israeli community in Los Angeles.
Earlier this year, Gadot was placed under increased security following a surge of online threats. The abuse was sparked after her Snow White co-star Rachel Zegler posted a pro-Palestinian message on social media, prompting a flood of death threats directed at Gadot.
