New York Postal Worker Arrested After Assaulting Four-Year-Old Hasidic Boy

A postal worker in Ramapo has been arrested after video footage showed him forcefully pushing a four-year-old Hasidic Jewish boy to the ground, reports The Jerusalem Post.

According to police, the incident took place on Friday afternoon when the child approached a mail truck. Footage shows the postal worker exiting the vehicle and shoving the boy, knocking him to the ground.

The Ramapo Police Department confirmed that the 39-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and attempted assault in the third degree.

Authorities said the man had reportedly been shouting at children in the area before the incident occurred.

Local political leaders strongly condemned the assault. New York State Senator Bill Weber said he shared the “concern and outrage” of residents and called for the suspect to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

US Congressman Mike Lawler also called for a full investigation, describing the incident as “violence and abuse.”

Police have not confirmed a motive, and it remains unclear whether the attack is being investigated as a hate crime. The investigation is ongoing.
