Who We Are

Action & Protection League (APL) is Europe’s leading organization for combating antisemitism.

APL was founded to explore the causes of modern-day antisemitism and to implement effective defense. We have built Europe’s most thorough monitoring system that exposes antisemitic incidents, we are providing help to victims and initiating legal actions, and we are working with a wide network of state organisations, civil partners, and individuals of all backgrounds to launch innovative educational programs.

“If I am not for myself, who will be for me? But if I am only for myself, who am I? If not now, when?” In 2012, Jewish organizations followed this 2000-year old piece of advice from Jewish wise men when they established Action and Protection Foundation. The success of APF in combating antisemitism in Hungary motivated us to provide effective solutions to stop the spread of antisemitic prejudices and discrimination on a European level.

In recent years, there’s been an alarming rise in antisemitism all across Europe. Almost all countries saw an increase in antisemitic incidents – from the proliferation of conspiracy theories and strengthening of anti-Jewish stereotypes through Holocaust denial and relativization to online harassment and physical attacks against Jews and Jewish institutions.

The Action and Protection League offers a European plan to counter antisemitism, considering best practices in the field. It develops an all-comprehensive antisemitism indicator, introduces legislative measures and pays particular attention to offering proper curriculum and educational materials in schools.
