A Jewish school in Amsterdam received a chilling email threatening to shoot three children, sparking fear and heightened security measures. The 31-year-old suspect, who justified the threat by referencing events in Gaza, remains at large after fleeing to Turkey, according to Dutch media reports.
The threatening email, sent in early February, stated: “What is happening in Gaza is wrong… I am going to shoot three children from your school… I have been observing for a while. It is enough. You are going to pay in blood.”
Dutch police have identified the suspect but have been unable to arrest him due to his current location in Turkey.
The targeted institution, the Cheider School in Buitenveldert, has faced growing security threats over recent years. It has not issued an official statement but reportedly increased its security measures.
In October 2023, following the Hamas massacre in southern Israel, the Cheider School was one of three Jewish schools in Amsterdam that closed temporarily due to fears of retaliatory attacks against Diaspora Jewry.
This incident highlights a disturbing trend of rising antisemitism and security threats facing Jewish communities across Europe, particularly amid heightened tensions in the Middle East. Dutch authorities continue to investigate the threat while Jewish schools in Amsterdam remain on high alert.
