Jewish Community Center evacuated due to a bomb threat in Detroit

A Jewish Community Centre was evacuated after several pipe bomb threats in Detroit, MI, United States.

The Jewish Community Centre of Metropolitan Detroit’s Frankel Jewish Academy was evacuated after pipe bomb threats were made on November 3, reports The Jerusalem Post.

„Frankel Jewish Academy and several other Jewish schools across the country have been the subject of bomb threats over the last two days.” said the community centre in a statement.

The NGO StopAntisemitism tweeted that students and staff were evacuated from the building while police searched the grounds for explosive devices. After the police determined that there were no explosive devices in the building or in the surrounding area, staff returned to the community centre, continuing their scheduled Jewish community programming.

„Nothing is more important than the safety and security of our patrons, staff, and community,” said the centre.

On Thursday night, the FBI’s Newark officer warned about a credible „broad threat to synagogues” in New Jersey, asking that all the necessary security precautions be made to protect the Jewish community and their facilities.
