The policeman who was seriously wounded in a knife attack in Mannheim, Germany, on Friday, May 31, has died of his injuries in the hospital.
The news of his death was announced by the German public prosecutor’s office in Karlsruhe, the Mannheim police headquarters and the criminal investigation department of the state of Baden-Württemberg on Sunday.
„He underwent emergency surgery immediately after the attack and was placed in an induced coma, but died of his serious injuries in the afternoon of June 2.”
They added that they were mourning the death of a police officer who had sacrificed his life for the safety of the people.
The stabbing took place at an anti-Islam rally organised by the anti-Islamic group Pax Europa.
