The Spanish Second Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Díaz has provoked outrage with an official speech in which she called for the violent destruction of Israel.
In a video posted on her X account, Yolanda Díaz, the Labour Minister of the leftist government and Second Deputy Prime Minister, made a speech in front of the flags of her country and the European Union, talking about the war in Gaza and calling for the violent destruction of Israel, reports the tev.hu
In her speech, Díaz used the slogan „From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”, which means that Israel must be replaced by a Palestinian state. This slogan is a call for the violent elimination of the Jewish state, and it is no coincidence that it has so far been shouted exclusively by Hamas supporters at pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Europe and the US and has been banned in Germany since the end of last year.

Díaz’s video message has been described by the European Jewish Congress as „an absolute disgrace”, as the slogan has been used for years by Islamist terrorists and incites hatred and violence against Jews.
„Such antisemitic rhetoric is totally unacceptable and has no place in a democratic society. It is totally unacceptable that it was uttered by a vice-president of a European government,” the organisation said.
Spain is among the three countries that announced last week that it would recognise the Palestinian state, which led to the restriction of Spanish diplomats in Israel and the ban on serving the Palestinians in the West Bank.
Díaz supported the recognition of the Palestinian state in her video message and accused Israel of ‘genocide’ in the Gaza Strip.
Spain is more pro-Palestinian than any other European country, and the left and especially a large part of the press can promote antisemitic views without criticism, the FAZ wrote last November.
In an open letter a few weeks ago, the Spanish Jewish community condemned the „complacency and permissiveness” of the antisemitic protests in Spanish universities. The letter complains that while the jihadist protesters are free to act, the rectors of the universities have still not condemned the brutal attacks carried out by Hamas on 7 October 2023.
