„Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians”, wrote Francesca Albanese on X, where she called the Gaza Strip „the most shameful concentration camp”.

The UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories was reacting to the air strike by Israel on Saturday on a Hamas military headquarters that was also used as a refugee camp. Hamas is claiming more than a hundred dead, but Israel says that only 20 terrorists were killed as a result of the precise strike.
The post ends with a plea for forgiveness from the Palestinians for „our collective inability to protect them, respecting the most fundamental meaning of international law.”
The Gaza Strip’s Hamas-led civil defence body said more than 90 people had been killed in the airstrike, calling the incident a „horrific massacre” that has drawn condemnation from several Western diplomats and Egyptian and Qatari mediators in the hostage-truce talks between Israel and Hamas.
However, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strike was carried out with three precision-guided projectiles against the command room of the two terror groups, which was embedded in a mosque in the Taba’een school complex. They added that footage taken after the strike showed that no major damage was caused to the surrounding school complex, noting that the rockets „could not have caused the damage that is reported in the Gaza government media news agency’s casualty reports”.
The IDF also published an infographic on Saturday with the names and faces of the nineteen terrorist operatives who were eliminated in the strike.
Because of her antisemitic and pro-Hamas statements, the senior UN official was declared persona non grata by the Israeli Ministry of Interior and Justice in February this year. Albanese’s record includes her first report recommending that UN member states develop a plan „to end Israel’s settler-colonial occupation and apartheid regime”.
Ten years ago, she wrote in a Facebook post:
„America is being subjugated by the Jewish lobby, which is blocking any initiative to hold Israel accountable for its inhumane treatment of Palestinians.”
She also called the October 7 Hamas terror attack a legitimate act of self-defence against Israeli oppression. She said the October 7 victims „were not killed because of their Jewishness but in response to Israel’s oppression.” Earlier, she wrote of a Hamas conference in Gaza that members of the terrorist organisation „have the right to resist the occupation”.
