The German news channel Deutsche Welle was yet again involved in a cooperation with an antisemitic broadcaster.
German news broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) is suspending its cooperation with the Jordanian station “Roya TV”, reports The Jerusalem Post. According to DW, the reason for ending the collaboration is that they discovered anti-Israel and antisemitic comments and caricatures in social media contents spread by the Jordanian station.
On Friday, December 3, the Vice magazine published a report about the antisemitic activity of the Roya TV channel. In its response, the DW highlighted that it regretted its careless assessment of the channel, at first believing it was not hostile towards Israel. The person responsible for the company’s decision to collaborate with the Jordanian channel apologised for not noticing the “disgusting images”, claiming that the DW will reevaluate the cooperation, for there is content spread by Roya that is not compatible with the German broadcaster’s values, namely that is antisemitic or racial.
This is not the first case of an amiss collaboration on part of Deutsche Welle. Last week we reported that the broadcasting network is investigating allegations of antisemitism against several employees in its Arabic editorial column and freelancer base.
