Pro-Palestinian protesters attack a synagogue in Spanish territory

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters attacked a synagogue in the Spanish enclave of Melilla in North Africa on October 18 while worshippers were inside.

According to Spanish newspaper reports, hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters attacked the Or Zaruah synagogue in the Spanish enclave of Melilla in North Africa on Wednesday night while worshippers were inside. The city of Melilla is a Spanish Special Administrative Region in North Africa, on the coast of Morocco.

The rioters shouted „murderous Israel” while waving Palestinian flags until police dispersed them, according to the El Independente newspaper. No injuries were reported in the disturbance.

Melilla Governor Juan Jose Imbroda called for tolerance and respect.

„The peace that we have achieved through the wisdom of the people of Melilla must continue to prevail. International conflicts, however painful, should not affect this exemplary coexistence.”

The incident came hours after a mob of pro-Palestinian Tunisian rebels set fire to a synagogue in the city of El-Hamma.
