NYC Nurse Fired After Antisemitic Harassment of Israeli Tourists in Times Square

A nurse in New York City has been dismissed from her job after a video showing her verbally abusing Israeli tourists in Times Square circulated widely online, reports The Jerusalem Post.

Jennifer Koonings, who worked for Inspire Mental Health Services, was filmed shouting insults at a group of Israeli visitors, including calling them “baby killers,” “terrorists,” and telling them “we don’t want you here.”

In the footage, Koonings repeatedly directed abusive language at the group while they were seated in a public area. At one point, a bystander dressed as Spider-Man intervened, telling her not to harass the tourists, but she continued her tirade.

Following the incident, Inspire Mental Health Services confirmed that Koonings was no longer employed by the organisation.

Reports indicate that Koonings has previously been involved in anti-Israel activism, including media appearances related to protests over the Gaza conflict.

The incident has raised concerns about antisemitic harassment in public spaces, particularly as tensions linked to the October 7 attacks and subsequent conflicts continue to influence behaviour and rhetoric globally.

No criminal charges have been reported in connection with the incident. Still, the case has drawn attention to the broader issue of hostility directed at Jewish and Israeli individuals in major cities.
