An 18-year-old man from Harlem has been arrested after allegedly making explicit threats to murder Jewish children in Brooklyn, authorities said, reports Israel National News.
According to the New York Police Department, the suspect was taken into custody on April 6 and charged with making terrorist threats, aggravated harassment, hate crime offences, and threatening mass harm.
The arrest followed the circulation of a video on social media in which the suspect reportedly stated his intention to target Jewish people, including children. In the footage, he described plans to travel to Brooklyn, saying he wanted to find “a whole school with kids” in areas with large Jewish populations.
The case was filed as a terrorism-related complaint within the NYPD’s 32nd Precinct, reflecting the seriousness of the threats.
The video was shared publicly by Inna Vernikov, drawing attention to the incident and prompting swift law enforcement action.
No further details have been released about the suspect’s motives or whether he had taken concrete steps toward carrying out the threats.
The incident adds to ongoing concerns about antisemitic threats and rhetoric in New York City, where Jewish communities have been disproportionately targeted in hate crime statistics in recent years.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
